Napoli ready to approach Liverpool for defender

Napoli are set to make a Summer bid for Liverpool centre-back Daniel Agger in the hope that a substantial bid could see them sell the Dane.

The Premier League side are expected to have a big transfer kitty available in the Summer after ensuring Champions League football next season, and it’s reported that Brendan Rodgers will work on improving his defence after numerous errors throughout the season.

Agger, who has previously been linked with a move to FC Barcelona, was close to exiting Anfield last Summer, but no formal move materialised and he remained a Liverpool player.

However, former-Reds boss Rafael Benitez, is now ready to ramp up the interest in the Danish international by offering Liverpool a substantial amount, but they may face competition from Barcelona after their transfer ban was lifted.

It’s believed Liverpool are looking into signing Schalke’s Kyriakos Papadopoulos and Sporting Lisbon’s Marco Rojo, and if they are successful in those bids, it could pave the way for Agger to depart the club.
