Napoli manager Rafael Benitez is keen on Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Dembele and is plotting a January move for the Belgium international.
The Italian side are desperate to build a squad that can compete in world football, especially in the Champions League and after a Summer of signing three Real Madrid stars, Benitez is ready to start spending the cash once again with the Premier League his next target.
The 26-year-old is apparently unsettled at White Hart Lane due to the lack of first-team opportunities and with the World Cup next Summer, a move in January could tempt Dembele, which would be a huge loss to Spurs as the power-house midfielder has been a dominating figure in the middle-of-the-park for Andre Villas-Boas over the last two seasons.
If the bid for Dembele fails, Benitez has already thought up a plan B with Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva and FC Barcelona’s Javier Mascherano on his back-up list.
