PSV Eindhoven give permission to midfielder to fly to England
PSV Eindhoven have announced they have allowed midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum to fly over to England in order to hold transfer talks with Newcastle United.
The Magpies are set to have a busy summer as they look to put last season behind them, and with Steve McClaren now at the helm, it seems their transfer policy may change slightly.
According to reports, Mike Ashley is prepared to spend big this summer in order to avoid another Premier League relegation battle, which saw them survive on the last day last season.
Wijnaldum Close to Premier League Switch
McClaren‘s first signing may be Wijnaldum as a deal edges closer for the Dutchman.
According to Sky Sports News, the 24-year-old has been given permission to fly to England and hold formal talks with Newcastle before undergoing a medical at St James Park.
It’s believed the fee is around £14.5million for the midfielder and the medical is set to take place later this afternoon.
Wijnaldum has been at PSV for four years, making 109 league appearances since his move from Feyenoord back in 2011.
