Newcastle has successfully acquired Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga for £55 million. After finishing fifth in the Premier League the previous season, Eddie Howe will have more attacking options with the 23-year-old Sweden international as they get ready to return to the Champions League.
For an estimated 55 million pounds ($74 million), Anthony Elanga finalized his transfer from Nottingham Forest to Newcastle on Friday. According to Newcastle, the Sweden international signed a long-term contract.
During Nuno Espirito Santo’s Forest’s excellent 2024–25 Premier League season, Elanga scored six goals and contributed eleven assists. Howe said on Newcastle’s official website, “I’m delighted to welcome Anthony to Newcastle United.”
“I’m happy to have him at this early stage of preseason because he has been a top objective for us. He has qualities that make him a special offensive danger, making him an enticing player. We will be strengthened, and our desired style of play will be complemented by his speed, energy, and ability to create and score goals.”
Newcastle confirm £55m signing of Forest winger Elanga
Elanga went on to say, “I’m prepared to don this black and white uniform in order to truly support this team and give my all for the fervent football fans.” Although my two years at Nottingham Forest were incredible and greatly influenced my development as a player, I’m glad to be here now.
The team won a trophy the previous season and is creating something amazing and one-of-a-kind, which I would really like to be a part of. I genuinely want to become a part of this club’s culture and DNA. I’m thrilled to be here and am eager to get going.
Elanga signed a five-year contract with Forest in 2023 after leaving Manchester United for an estimated £15 million. Before relocating to the City Ground, he made 55 appearances after arriving at Old Trafford at the age of 12.
Elanga did not insist on a relocation because Forest was eager to keep him, but the offer was too tempting to pass up.
