The striker’s future is still in doubt
According to the Express, Newcastle United will lodge an £18 million bid for West Bromwich Albion bad boy Saido Berahino over the weekend.
The Magpies believe that the right offer will be accepted by the Hawthorns club, despite West Brom’s chairman, Jeremy Peace, insisting the 22-year old is not for sale.
If a bid is accepted, the length of negotiations could again see Berahino as a major talking point on Deadline Day.
The England U21 international centre forward was the subject of four bids from Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window, including two on Deadline Day.
Berahino even handed in a formal transfer request and had originally stated on Twitter that he would never play under Peace’s leadership again.
However, since then he has failed to get his Baggies career back on track and has again fallen out of favour with his manager Tony Pulis.
