Newcastle set to battle for Isla

Newcastle United are ready to fend off interest from Liverpool and Arsenal and sign Chile and Juventus player Mauricio Isla.

Eventhough Isla has admitted that he sees his future at Juventus, various reports suggest that the Italian side would be prepared to let the player leave for the right-price.

This has alerted the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool who have kept a close eye on the full-back’s situation after an impressive World Cup campaign.

But now it has emerged that Newcastle are ready to do what it takes and snatch Isla from the hand off the two clubs and make a formal bid which Juventus cannot refuse.

Pardew has already signed Daryl Janmaat as a replacement for Mathieu Debuchy, but Isla can also play in midfield or on the wing.

At 26, the Chilean still has potential for good sell-on value, something Toon owner Mike Ashley is known to value in a player.
