Newcastle told to pay £3million to loan Demba Ba

Premier League side Newcastle United have been told by Chelsea that they will have to pay £3million if they want to sign striker Demba Ba on loan for a season.

The Senegal international left St James Park in order to join The Blue last winter for a fee estimated around £7million, but he has failed to emulate his form shown in his Newcastle days.

Ba currently faces stiff competition at Stamford Bridge with the likes of Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku.

His hopes of first-team football took another blow today after the club confirmed the signing of Samuel Eto’o from Russian side Anzhi.

Alan Pardew is desperate to add some fire power to the Magpies side and they are weighing up a potential load for for Ba or going back in for Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis, however, having to pay £3m for the Chelsea striker, could see them favour a move for Gomis.
