Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye has been fined by the club for his decision to not feature in the side’s early season clash against West Ham United.

The Frenchman missed the opening game of the season against Manchester City because according to Alan Pardew he was ‘mentally unfit’ to play due to the ÂŁ12million bid made from Arsenal just 24-hour prior.

After missing that game, he was then set to play against West Ham, but he refused to feature as he wanted to push through a move to The Gunners.

The move didn’t happen and Cabaye eventually apologised to the club and the fans, but today it has been confirmed that he will receive a fine for his no-show.

It hasn’t been made public knowledge how much the player has been fined, but it is rumoured to be around one week’s wage.
