According to the latest reports, Newcastle United are preparing an offer for AC Milan winger, Diego Laxalt.
The 25-year-old is left footed and can play both as a winger and a fullback. He joined the Rossoneri from Genoa last summer for £16.2m after impressing for Uruguay in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
However, Laxalt has not delivered with a single assist or a goal since his move to the San Siro and has mostly been considered as a substitute under Gennaro Gattuso. Calcio Mercato claims that Milan directors, Paolo Maldini and Leonardo are currently deciding on the future of Diego Laxalt while a bid awaits from the Magpies.
Newcastle United are now only 2 points ahead of the relegation spots after last night’s 0-2 loss against Manchester United. Rafael Benitez understands squad improvements are necessary but will not be easy to come by.
He said, “It’s January so it’s quite difficult – it’s not a question of much (money), it’s a question of how to find the right player. It’s quite a difficult window because the top-class players normally are playing in the Champions League and with top teams, so it’s very difficult for them to change.”
“We don’t have too many options so we have to keep working hard and if we find the right player then we have to start talking about that.”
