Newcastle United revive their interest in Antonio Barecca.

The Magpies had dropped their interest in the player following the pursuit of Jordan Lukaku which eventually fell through.

According to Mail Online, Newcastle United have reportedly revived their interest in Antonio Barecca, who is currently playing for AS Monaco. The player has been one of the prime targets for Rafa Benitez this January but the Spaniard dropped his interest in the player following the pursuit of Lazio full back Jordan Lukaku. However, the deal did not go through due to some alleged complications during the medical and now the Magpies are back for the Monaco defender once again.

Newcastle United crashed out of the FA Cup losing against Watford by 2-0. They are also on the threshold of entering the dreaded relegation zone in the Premier League and are looking to do their best in order to stay afloat in the top tier. Speaking about the current condition of the transfer business, Benitez said, “Today is the 26th, so I don’t need to say too much. We don’t have any players here.”

When asked about his mood, which was predominantly low, the Spanish gaffer said, “A little bit of everything, but I am a professional, so I am convinced that we will do what we have to do and in the end, we will stay up. But we have to concentrate and then be sure that we do the right things. Now we don’t have any excuses in terms of what we have to do.”
