Neymar is facing the prospect of being banned as he has been charged by UEFA for his rant on the social media after Paris Saint Germain’s 3-2 defeat against Manchester United in the Champions League round of 16.

A last gasp penalty was awarded to United after video replays suggested Diogo Dalot’s goal bound shot touched Prisnel Kimpebe’s arm. The on field referee sought the help of the Video Assistant Referee and awarded a penalty.

Marcus Rashford converted from the spot to send United to the quarters. Neymar couldn’t do much as the Brazilian was injured and watched the game from the stands.

The former Barcelona winger was visibly disturbed and later blasted the officials on his official Instagram account. He wrote, “This is a disgrace, they put four people who know nothing about football in charge of looking at the replay for VAR.

“It’s just not possible!!! How is a guy going to hold his hand behind his back. Go f*** yourselves.”

UEFA had already confirmed they would look into the matter and now the European football’s governing body has charged the footballer. A UEFA statement read : “Charges against Paris St Germain: Player Neymar Junior – Insulting / molesting acts against match official (statements made by the player following the above-mentioned match) – Art. 15 (1) (d) of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations.”
