Neymar pours cold water on rumours linking him to Real Madrid

Reports in Spain suggested that PSG and Brazil striker Neymar might be closing in on a mega-money move to Real Madrid but the 26-year-old has brushed aside such speculations over his future.

Neymar has batted away the rumours, making it clear that he will speak out when there is something concrete.

The 26-year-old became the world’s most expensive player in 2017 when he switched to PSG from Barcelona but he has repeatedly been linked with a move back to the La Liga.

There has been several reports claiming that he has struggled to adjust to life at the French capital, with many even questioning his commitment to his current club.

It was reported by a source a few days back that Neymar took drugs at a party on New Year’s eve but the Brazilian has poured water on such rumours, claiming that the media always exaggerates such things.

“There’s always speculation about me, about whether I’m going to leave to join other clubs,” he said.

“But there is nothing concrete. When there is something certain, rest assured that then I’ll talk to everyone.”

I’m aware of everything that surrounds my name, both the good and the bad,” he retorted.

“Lately, many things have been made up such as being accused of taking drugs on New Year’s Eve.

“I’m a great athlete and a little crazy but I’m not that stupid.

“At the same time, I’m very happy because if you talk about me, it is because I’ve got a lot of quality and I’m among the best.”

Neymar has always been accused of exaggerating contact on the pitch and the forward took the opportunity to address the accusations.

“I suffered from many fouls in the World Cup and if you look at those actions, most of the time there is a kick,” he said.

“It wasn’t theatrical and I am the only one to suffer those fouls. Defensive marking is hard because if they leave me alone, then I’ll make something happen for my team.

“Today, we talk a lot about what happened but as I said before, if we are talking about it, it is because it is about Neymar and all news will be amplified, be it positive or negative.”
