Benfica star has said goodbye to team-mates

Manchester United are set to sign long-term target Nicolas Gaitan, according to reports in Portugal.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola have claimed that the winger has already said his goodbyes to his team-mates at Benfica and will fly over to England in the next few days to complete the switch.

The 27-year-old has been a long-term target of The Red Devils, with Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes both keen on signing him for the Premier League club, but both failing to do so.

One Winger Out/Two In

However, Louis Van Gaal is finally set to wrap up the deal in the next few days, despite Pedro expected to arrive from FC Barcelona.

United are in the market for a new winger after Angel Di Maria completed his switch to Paris Saint-Germain, and Van Gaal could bring in two in order to replace him in the form of Gaitan and Pedro.

According to the same paper in Portugal, Gaitan’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is already on his way to Manchester in order to finalise the deal which could be worth around ÂŁ28million.

United could wrap up both deals before the weekend.
