Chelsea boss doesn’t want to add new faces after season starts

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has told TalkSPORT that he isn’t thinking about adding any new faces to his squad once the season gets underway.

The Premier League campaign starts up on Saturday, as Chelsea host Swansea City in the evening game at Stamford Bridge, and Mourinho has told the radio station that he doesn’t like signing players once the season has gotten underway.

The Blues have only signed two players so far, Radamel Falcao on loan and Asmir Begovic from Stoke City, and although the teams around them are spending big, Mourinho insists that he won’t match their activity.

Chelsea are expected to sign Baba Rahman from Augsburg as a Filipe Luis replacement, but The Special One has now confirmed that no more signings will be made.

No More Signings

Mourinho said: “The transfer window is over, you know what I mean? I don’t like the transfer window when the [Premier League] competition starts after tomorrow, I don’t like transfer window during the competition.”

“I know the transfer window is open,” he told talkSPORT. “I know that my club is able to buy or to sell – every club can buy or can sell in this moment – but I don’t like that feeling.

“As a football coach, thinking about my players, my squad and my coaching role, I don’t want to think about the transfer window.

“What happened, happened, but I’m not going to lose one minute of my time to think about transfer window, I have to think about how to get the best out of my players, and that’s what I am doing now.”
