FC Barcelona has managed to prepone Jean-Clair Todibo’s transfer from Toulouse by 6 months.
A deal between the two clubs had already been struck for the 19-year-old to make his way over to the Camp Nou after the completion of the 2018/19 season but Ernesto Valverde decided to make the switch immediate.
Todibo has signed a 4-and-a-half-year contract with the Blaugrana and will be sporting the legendary number 6 on his jerseys which has been sacrificed by Denis Suarez upon his loan move to Arsenal.
The teenage sensation made his senior debut for the Ligue 1 side this season and went on to make 10 appearances in total. However, he declined to sign a contract extension and was boycotted from making any future appearances.
Todibo is a highly versatile presence on the defensive end of the pitch. He usually operates from the centre-back post but can play in the defensive midfield role as well.
He represented the France U20 side on two occasions. The youngster can hope to follow into the shoes of legendary Barcelona figures who wore the number six jersey like Xavi Hernandez, Dani Alves, Guillermo Amor only to name a few.
