Barcelona have signed Kevin-Prince Boateng from Sassuolo on loan until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old becomes the second signing for the Blaugrana this January after Jeison Murillo.

Barcelona have officially completed their “surprise” signing of Kevin-Prince Boateng from Serie A outfit Sassuolo on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy. The 31-year-old comes into the side as a replacement for Munir El-Haddadi, who left the club earlier this month to join La Liga rivals, Sevilla. As per Marca, the former AC Milan attacking midfielder has been brought into the side to play a backup role for the star forward Luis Suarez.

The Blaugrana has been missing a quality player up front since Rafinha’s injury, which has sidelined him for the rest of the season. The inclusion of Boateng, who is also the brother of Bayern Munich defensive star Jerome Boateng, would provide them with a solid player to strengthen their attack coming off the bench.

The Ghanaian international becomes the second signing of this January transfer window for the Catalan giants after Jeison Murillo. As per the report, the reigning La Liga champions would be able to exercise the option to buy the player on a permanent basis after his loan term is over, which might cost them something around €8 million.
