A successful swap between the two Serie A teams.

Inter and Fiorentina have officially exchanged left-backs Cristiano Biraghi and Dalbert on loans with an option to buy.

Biraghi returns to San Siro on a temporary basis for the remainder of the season, but the Nerazzurri will have the option to make his stay permanent for a reported €12 million.

“Cristiano Biraghi is officially an Inter player. The 26-year-old has joined from Fiorentina on loan with an option to make the deal permanent”, Inter Milan have confirmed on their official website.

He is also understood to have agreed a five-year contract worth around €2 million.

Biraghi began his career at Inter but was frequently loaned out and did not establish himself in Serie A until he joined Pescara in 2016. He went on to assert himself as a top-level performer in two seasons with Fiorentina, breaking into the Italy squad during that time.

The defender replaces Dalbert on the Beneamata’s left flank after he moved in the opposite direction. The Brazilian joined Inter Milan for more than €20 million in 2017 but he has only made 26 appearances in two seasons since.

“FC Internazionale Milano announces the departure of Dalbert Henrique Chagas Estevão to ACF Fiorentina,” a short statement on Inter’s website read. “The Brazilian defender is joining the Viola on a year-long loan.”
