Real Betis have confirmed the signing of Argentine midfielder Giovani lo Celso on a 4-year deal. Lo Celso joined Betis on loan from PSG last summer. So far, he has made 40 appearances for the club, scoring 15 goals and providing 4 assists.
Lo Celso started his career in boyhood club Rosario Central which is a club based in Lionel Messi’s birthplace Rosario. He joined PSG from Rosario Central in 2016 on a transfer fee of £8.5 million. He was a regular for PSG last season, helping the club win a domestic treble.
Lo Celso left PSG with 6 goals and 9 assists to his name in 54 appearances across all competitions. This season, lo Celso has been Betis’ top-scorer with 15 goals. Several clubs were interested in signing Lo Celso but eventually Betis managed to keep him till 2023.
The permanent signing of lo Celso is a major boost for Betis ahead of next season where they can hope to perform better than they did this season.
