Tottenham Hotspurs were one of the busy clubs in yesterdays transfer deadline day, with three players leaving and two players coming in. Danny Rose left the club on a season-long loan to Sunderland, whilst Geovanni Dos Santos and Van Der Vaart both left the club permanently.
Whilst fans were devastated to see fan favourite, Van Der Vaart leave, they were cheered up when it was announced that the club had agreed a £22m fee for Porto’s playmaker, Joao Moutinho. However, later on it was announced that the deal had hit a stumbling block after the two clubs failed to agree personal terms. The club were working late last night in trying to get the deal done, but for now, it doesn’t look like Spurs will secure the Portuguese playmaker.
After missing out on Moutinho, it was clear that Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy, wanted to find someone else, and it turned out that a £6m offer was enough to get Fulham’s wantaway star-man, Clint Dempsey. The American international had a rather busy day yesterday after rejecting a move to Aston Villa after announcing he only wanted a move to Liverpool. The merseyside club, then made a £4m bid for the want-away centre forward, but Fulham laughed off the offer and rejected it. That then lead to Tottenham making a late night £6m bid for him which Fulham accepted. This meant Clint Dempsey joined his former Fulham team-mate, Moussa Dembele, who joined Spurs earlier on in the window.
Joining the two-ex Fulham players is the French international goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris, after the two clubs agreed a move for the Lyon goalkeeper.
