The player is set to remain at the club until 2023.

Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko extended his contract with the Champions League finalists until 2023 on Friday.

Moussa Sissoko has become a key player for Mauricio Pochettino’s side Tottenham over the past two seasons after a slow start to his Spurs career following a €35 million move from Newcastle in 2016. The 30-year-old has since made 132 appearances in all competitions and has won his place back in Didier Deschamps’ plans at international level after missing out on France’s 2018 World Cup triumph.

“We are delighted to announce that Moussa Sissoko has signed a new contract with the Club until 2023”, Spurs confirmed on their official website.

The French international had a difficult start to life in London but has been outstanding over the last 12 months. He has made seven appearances this season, six in the Premier League and one in the EFL Cup, racking up 545 minutes of playing time from a possible 630.

“I’m very proud to sign a new deal with the club, that means they believe in me and are happy with what I’m doing,”  Sissoko told Spurs TV. “Hopefully I can give my best for the club and we can win some trophy all together. At the beginning it was a bit tough for me but I never gave up. I was always trying to do my best even on the bad moments and today things have changed.”

In the Premier League, the Frenchman made one assist, created four chances, completes 91% of his 55.3 passes-per-game on average, has won 54% of his aerial duels and boasts a 67% dribble success rate.

Despite having competition from Tanguy Ndombele, Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama, Sissoko has been first-choice alongside Harry Winks in 2019/20 – only Toby Alderweireld, Harry Kane and Danny Rose have racked up more Premier League minutes than the Frenchman.
