La Liga official transfers

Carles Aleña (loan, from Barcelona to Real Betis)

Barcelona has sent young midfielder Carles Aleña on loan to fellow La Liga club Real Betis until the end of the season. The Spain Under-21 international Alena started Barca’s first league game of the campaign but has struggled for playing time since, featuring just three more times in the top flight.

The 21-year-old, who worked his way through the academy ranks and has made 39 first-team appearances, will now link up with Betis for the second half of 2019-20. He has been consistently linked with a move away from the Camp Nou this season, with La Liga rivals Getafe and Valencia also reported to be interested in a loan move for him. The six-month loan deal, confirmed on Barcelona’s official website, does not include any purchase option.

Munas Dabbur (€12m, from Sevilla to Hoffenheim)

Hoffenheim have completed the signing of Munas Dabbur from Sevilla, it was officially announced. The striker has put pen to paper on a contract until 2024 and joins Hoffenheim for a reported fee of €12 million. “Munas is a great striker. He is agile, has fast reactions, precise timing, technically good and a dangerous finisher. Additionally, he is a strong character who speaks excellent German which will certainly help him to adapt quickly,” said Hoffenheim chief Alexander Rosen.

“I am very pleased that the switch to TSG has worked out. Hoffenheim are an exciting team in one of the strongest leagues in the world,” said Dabbur. The Israel international, who joined Sevilla from RB Salzburg last summer, made a total of nine appearances for the Spanish club, racking up three goals and two assists.

Raul De Tomas (€20m, from Benfica to Espanyol)

Espanyol have completed the signing of Raul de Tomas from Benfica for an initial fee of €20 million. The 25-year-old has signed a six-and-a-half-year deal to become the first arrival since head coach Abelardo took charge last month. The deal also includes €2m in add-ons and Benfica will retain a 20% sell-on clause for the forward.

The fee smashes the club’s previous transfer record of €10.5m, which they paid to sign Matias Vargas from Velez Sarsfield last July. De Tomas, who progressed through the Real Madrid youth system, enjoyed productive loan spells with Real Valladolid and Rayo Vallecano before joining Benfica on a five-year deal in July. However, he managed only seven appearances in Portugal’s top flight and did not score a single goal.
