Official: Valencia have signed Geoffrey Kondogbia on a permanent deal

The midfielder joined them on a loan deal from Inter Milan

Valencia have completed the signing of Geoffrey Kondogbia on a permanent deal. He joined them on a 1 year loan deal from Inter Milan last summer with an option to make the deal permanent, it was a part of loan exchange which saw Joao Cancelo moving in the other direction.

The midfielder has signed a contract running until 2022 and the reported transfer fee is €25 million. The club have confirmed the the player’s deal contains a release clause of €80 million.

The France midfielder have enjoyed a successful campaign with the La Liga giants, scoring 4 goals and assisting 4 in 31 League appearances and helping his team to seal a Champions League return with a fourth place finish.

“I’m very happy and proud to be part of this team,” the 25 year old told the club’s website. “Valencia is a wonderful club and I want to be part of its history.

“We all know Valencia is an ambitious club, which for me is important. I also want to take a step forward in my career and things are going well.”

But Kondogbia expressed his disappointment after missing out on a place the France World Cup squad.

 “Things in football aren’t always fair,” he told Valencia’s club radio station when discussing the snub.

“I’m proud of my team and myself. I’ve done my job but it’s not just that, there are other factors that count in order to get the call-up.

“I knew it would be difficult but the most important thing is that we have done a great job and we are happy.

“The work is done and the performance of each player has improved.”
