OFFICIAL: Zlatan Ibrahimović Recalled For Sweden Duty

Zlatan Ibrahimović has been called up to the Sweden national team again.

The AC Milan forward has not represented the national team since 2016.

He announced his retirement after the European Championships that year. After that there was plenty of speculation regarding his return but nothing ever came to fruition. Now, the momentum is again in his favour after the season he has been having.

AC Milan are back to fighting for the title with the veteran hitting good scoring form. Ibrahimović posted a cryptic tweet last year of him in a Sweden shirt with the caption – “Long time no see”. Perhaps, he intended to return on international duty then but did not get a callback.

The Swede overcome pretty serious knee injuries in the past few years to return to the pitch. At 39, he still looks to have quite a bit of football left in him. There were rumours about him getting caalled up for the World Cup qualifiers later this month against Georgia and Kosovo.

Now, it’s official. Ibrahimović will take a part in them and the football fans can’t wait. He is still a large icon of the sport. Head coach Janne Andersson announced the name of players this week and he is in that list.
