Frenchman extends his North London stay
Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has agreed to a three-year extension at the club, according to reports.
The Frenchman has put pen-to-paper on a new contract and it’s expected to be announced before the start of the 2015/2016 campaign, which Arsenal get underway at home to West Ham United.
Giroud’s Fine Form Rewarded
Giroud has been a regular for The Gunners since he joined from Montpellier, and despite Arsene Wenger being in the market for a new striker, the 28-year-old is expected to feature heavily next season too.
After recovering from a broken leg in August last year, Giroud went on to have a great campaign last season and has been rewarded for his form with a new long-term deal.
It’s believed the new contract is worth around ÂŁ130k-a-week, making him one of the club’s highest earners alongside Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
Striker Targets
Despite the new deal, Wenger will still look to sign a new striker, with Karim Benzema from Real Madrid his number-one target, and reportedly Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich his back-up plan.
