Athletic Bilbao midfielder has been linked with Chelsea switch

Oscar de Marcos has rejected claims he’s ready to leave Athletico Bilbao in order to complete a move to Premier League outfit Chelsea.

The midfielder has been strongly linked with a move away from Bilbao, with a move to Chelsea being reported, but he has spoken out about his future recently and is adamant that he has no intentions of leaving the club.

Stamford Bridge officials were eyeing De Marcos as a potential replacement for Ramires, who left the club for the Chinese Super League back in January.

Despite having the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Nemanja Matic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and John Obi Mikel, Chelsea still want to sign a new central-midfielder, and De Marcos was one name on their list.

However, he has put a spanner in the works by confirming his desires to stay with the La Liga outfit, rather than complete a move to the Premier League.

De Marcos Staying Put

He told Spanish newspaper Marca: “The news has passed by me, but nobody has told me anything

“If it’s true, it is because I’m doing things right with the Athletic. More importantly I don’t let it worry me.

“Today I think my future is in the Athletic and I’ll finish my career here. I only see here.”
