The winger is a summer target for United and Chelsea

Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is seeking a 50% pay rise as the Gunners look to tie down their key men to new deals.

The 22-year-old has struggled for form this season, scoring his first league goal this season for the club earlier this month in a 2-0 win at Bournemouth.

However, Oxlade-Chamberlain is demanding a weekly wage of ÂŁ100,000-a-week to stay at the Emirates, as Arsene Wenger hopes to tie down Mesut Ozil, injury-hit Jack Wilshere and Alexis Sanchez down to new deals also.

The winger has two years remaining on his current deal and is willing to sign a new contract, providing his ÂŁ52,000-a-week wages increase.

Premier League interest

Both Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in Oxlade-Chamberlain, who would prove a valuable asset to either side, but the Gunners are in a better situation than the two fellow Premier League outfits, as they battle it out for the league title.

Chelsea could sell want-away Eden Hazard in the summer, while United are looking to bolster their squad after summer signing Memphis Depay has failed to stand out for United on the wing, therefore making Oxlade-Chamberlain a potential option.

The 22-year-old’s goal against Bournemouth was his first in 16 months, and former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness recently questioned whether the former Southampton man took the game seriously enough.

But Oxlade-Chamberlain, on his day, can be an important player Wenger, and a new bumper deal should be more than enough to persuade the England international to stay put.
