Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade Chamberlain is determined to come back better and stronger as he is getting back to full fitness, following an unfortunate injury he sustained in August.

The Arsenal youngster picked up a very serious knee injury during the Gunners’ 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa on the opening day of the season.

Oxlade Chamberlain, who signed for Arsenal from Southampton in 2011 is close to coming back to full fitness after the injury, which has kept the twenty year old out for a while, whilst he recovers.

Oxlade Chamberlain has refused to ask the medical team at the Gunners to give him a realistic time scale of his return date, as the former Southampton graduate looks to stamp his mark on Arsenal’s title challenge this season, and of course the Portsmouth born winger will want to get into Roy Hodgson’s World Cup side.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Oxlade-Chamberlain said: ‘I don’t like to ask because I might lose my focus on the next (rehab) session.

‘That’s the way I approach it and it has got me through the first four months.

‘It’s not like going to the gym and lifitng dumbbells – it’s strengthening your hips, your core and things people would not naturally do. When you are injured you have the time to model your body.’

The Gunners have enjoyed a very successful start to the season, and following a 1-1 draw against Everton on Sunday, Wenger’s side are now four points clear at the top of the Premier League. Arsenal have had several British born players to thank for their recent success, with Carl Jenkinson, Keiran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey have all profited from first team football, as Oxlade Chamberlain describes the ‘ british core ‘ surrounding the club, has benefitted the players.

Oxlade Chamberlain stated…..

‘It’s good to have that group of yong lads, you can grow together. To have that British core and people of a similar age group to you, growing up with you in the same environment and learning the ‘Arsenal way’ is a really good step forward,’ said the 20-year-old.

‘The boss tries to make us play the ‘Arsenal way’ and now we have a squad that has been here together for a few years, everyone has gelled together and knows the style of play and you see it every day in training and in matches as well.’

Oxlade-Chamberlain will be keen for Arsenal’s form to continue when he finally returns to the squad as he bids to impress England manager Roy Hodgson.

The Arsenal winger will want to play apart for both club and country, having impressed Roy Hodgson in the friendly against Brazil in early June, where Chamberlain scored.
