The attacking midfielder’s form has dramatically dipped as the season has progressed, and the last game he featured in, a defeat to bayern Munich, has left many wondering when the German star man will produce once more.
Ozil missed a crucial penalty during Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Bayern Munich and was also slated by team-mates Jack Wilshere and Mathieu Flamini on the pitch for failing to track forward runs. So Ozil so far hasn’t lived up to his £42m price tag.
Former German international Michael ballack fears the midfielder may not have been accepted by the rest of Arsene Wenger’s team. “With his quality he should be untouchable and bring out so much in the team. But it looks like he does not have the acceptance of the team,” he told Sky Sports.
“When he came to Arsenal there was so much expectation with the quality he has. The first games he looked good, played well and was comfortable.
“But now he looks a bit lost in this team.”
