The defender’s return to Spain hits a roadblock

According to talkSPORT.com, Filipe Luis’ return to Atletico Madrid from Chelsea has been stalled.

The Premier League champions are yet to send the La Liga club relevant paperwork that would push through the deal, despite the left-back already passing a medical to re-join Atleti.

Spanish media outlet Marca claim that Chelsea were supposed to send the paperwork on Thursday, but now the deal will only be completed over the weekend.

The 29-year old spent one season in West London

The Brazilian international only spent one campaign at Chelsea, after signing from the Madrid based club for ÂŁ15.8 million last summer.

Inter Milan boss Roberto Mancini was also interested in signing the full-back, however, Luis wanted a return to the Vicente Calderon to play under Diego Simeone once again.

During his time in London, Luis made 26 appearances in all competitions and won both the Premier League title and the Capital One Cup.

His only goal for the club was a free-kick in a 3-1 away victory at Derby County in the League Cup quarter final.
