Former Chelsea man Pat Nevin believes David Luiz’ dip in from is due to him trying to play like Andreas Pirlo

Luiz was left out of Conte’s starting XI for the trip to Manchester United in what as labeled as their crunch Premier League clash last weekend.

The Brazilian defender has been part of Conte’s squad  that had conceded 13 times in six games in all competitions following disappointing results against Manchester City, Crystal Palace and AS Roma.

Now David Luiz has been under fire for his poor performance and reports have been circulating that the Defender and Conte have fallen out after an alleged row.

And former Blue Pat Nevin believes he knows what’s going on with Luiz at Stamford Bridge this season saying he thinks the star is trying too hard to be like all star Andreas Pirlo.

He believes Luiz needs to stop trying to be Italian legend Andrea Pirlo and lose the sluggishness that has infected his performances.

“He has been playing a bit slow recently,” Nevin told Newstalk.

“He thinks he’s Pirlo. He is pinging balls 60 or 70 yards. Chelsea need to zip it around and move it quickly. Kante comes back. Luiz is out.

“It was zipped around. It was moved quick. I hope Luiz was sat in the stands and realised that. It could help Luiz. He will come back in but it might not be right away.”
