Patrice Evra: ‘Chelsea were negative’

Manchester United defender Patrice Evra believes Chelsea came to Old Trafford praying for a draw and that is why they set up so negatively.

Jose Mourinho’s men fought out a 0-0 draw away at United on Monday night and started the game with no recognised striker on the pitch, much like Spain did during the European Championships, but unfortunately for Mourinho, the tactic didn’t reap reward as they had to settle for a point a piece.

Evra, who was speaking to Sky Sports after the game, admitted that the side could take positives from their display, but also stated that it is always hard to beat a team that comes looking for just a draw.

“We should create more chances is the only thing I can say,” Evra told Sky Sports News. “The positive thing is we didn’t concede a goal, Chelsea didn’t create any really dangerous chances.

“The way they come to Old Trafford playing without a striker I don’t think Mourinho was wanting to win that game, maybe he was looking for a draw.

“We should create more chances to win the game and the night would be perfect.

“I can say we look really fit, all the lads did a hard job.

“It was not easy and we keep going until the end because we want to win.”
