Merson says Manchester City are the ones who are most likely to miss out on a top four spot.
The former Arsenal man said all of the current top six could win the league especially after Tottenham’s win over Chelsea.
He says the result at White Hart Lane now puts Manchester United as genuine title contenders.
“I think it’s brought Man United into it, I really do,” he told Sky Sports.
“Anybody can still win it, it’s really opened it up.
“The thing is now when it kicks off again in a couple of weeks, until the end of February at least one of the top six play against each other every week.
“That league is going to go up and down for the next six weeks. They will keep taking points off each other and I just think it’s so open, I really do”
The Blues’s defeat at White Hart Lane ended the winning run of 13 games but Merson says it wasn’t too damaging due to Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Sunderland two days before.
He said: “That was a bad result for Liverpool. You look at Chelsea’s result and it wasn’t the worst result losing at Tottenham who are a good team.
“Liverpool just drew at Sunderland so it didn’t make it that damaging.”
“I still make Chelsea favourites because they only play once a week,” he added.
“If you looked at all the teams, Man City would be the ones for me at the moment who are in major danger of missing out on the top four. That would probably be the biggest disaster ever.”
