In possibly the strangest turn of events in the transfer market this summer, Liverpool seem to be in the race to sign Juventus star Paul Pogba.
The 23-year-old Joined Juventus from Manchester United back in 2012, and has gone on to score 34 goals in 178 appearances for the club. However, it seems that the French superstar is linked with a move back to the Premier League- though with Manchester United’s fierce rivals, Liverpool.
Mino Raiola, Pogba’s agent, has now let slip that negotiations have taken place with a number of Premier League clubs, as well as Spanish giants Real Madrid, who are said to be winning the race for the signature of the young French International.
It is not a secret. Every year I meet with Madrid, but also with United, Barcelona, City, Liverpool, Chelsea,’ Raiola said when questioned on the matter.
‘It’s my job. In the last two years my relationship with Real Madrid is again clear and professional.
‘Now there is serious dialogue, it’s positive. They know my character and how I am.’
Reports have suggested that Juventus value Pogba at around £123million, an astonishing price tag which Liverpool may not be able to afford. This could end up seeing them struggle in a battle against financial superpowers such as Real Madrid or Manchester United- but anything is possible.
