Spanish papers claim deal is set to be done

According to Spanish media, FC Barcelona star Pedro is on his way to Manchester United.

The Spaniard is set to leave the Nou Camp after falling out of favour under Luis Enrique and since Arda Turan is set to arrive in January, Pedro‘s game-time could be limited next season.

Despite barely featuring for the club last year, due to Neymar and Lionel Messi, Pedro signed a four-year extension at the club in June, ending speculation regarding his future.

However, reports then emerged that in the new contract, his release clause was diminished from ÂŁ107million to just ÂŁ22m, leading to new questions surrounding his future.

Premier League Interest

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have all been linked with the 28-year-old, but according to Spanish media, United are the favourites.

Spanish newspaper Sport have claimed that The Red Devils have offered £18m to Barca for the winger, but they have responded by asking for the extra £4m to activate his release clause.

Sport believe the deal will be finalised and completed in the next few weeks and have even mocked up a picture of Pedro in a Manchester United kit. (See below)

Summer Spending

Pedro would become United’s fifth signing this summer, following the arrivals of Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian and Sergio Romero.

If Louis Van Gaal does finalise the deal, it would take his personal spending at Old Trafford to nearly ÂŁ300m.
