Pep Guardiola Explains Gabriel Jesus Situation

Pep Guardiola has showered praises on Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus but insisted the Brazilian forward needs to shoulder the responsibility of scoring goals.

Jesus hasn’t been consistent with his goal scoring antics this season but City haven’t been affected much as Guardiola’s side has had a number of different goal scorers to cruise them past their opponents.

The Spanish gaffer mostly opted for Sergio Aguero up front and the Argentine hasn’t disappointed as he has bagged six goals to keep the goal scoring chart tickling.

But with a cluster of fixtures coming sharply ahead the gaffer needs to rotate his squad quite briefly in a bid to keep the competition alive within the squad.

Guardiola said, “He needs a goal. He’s a striker, they live for that. But if you saw his performance (against Fulham), it was excellent.

“There are a lot of movements without the ball for Gabriel that people don’t realise. For example, the third goal against Shakhtar Donetsk – the Bernardo (Silva) goal. The movement Gabriel makes – inside, outside – the movement he makes helps score the goal.

“He’s a guy who has given us a lot but he’s a young player and still he can improve – a little bit more calm in the box. But I’m so satisfied for the way he’s playing this season.”
