Manchester City have drawn constant links with several high-level players over the course of the season but has not conducted any business yet in the January window.

Reports claim that Pep Guardiola does not expect to make any additions this month as most of his targets are currently available.

The transfer window is the same in the summer, maybe shorter but it’s a chance for the clubs to do something for new players and those who want to leave,” the Spaniard told Manchester Evening News.

“It’s a good opportunity when the season is not going well to do something when you imagine you can do better. Sometimes we have done it but normally when you want to buy a player it’s for five or six years and that doesn’t normally happen in this window. For loan players maybe it can happen but the big clubs don’t buy for six months and they are not selling in that period.”

“If you have no injuries and you are satisfied with the players as in our case, we decide we are going with the players we have had since the start of the season.”

The Citizens were expected to reinforce the defensive midfield and left-back positions but most of their injured personnel are expected to return soon. Fernandinho has already restablished himself in the midfield and played a key role in the club’s 2-1 home victory over league leaders, Liverpool last week.
