Pep Guardiola has hailed Raheem Sterling after the player’s all round effort in the 3-1 win over Everton.

Following their harrowing defeat at the hands of Chelsea, the onus was on them to deliver and City displayed a perfect performance to tame down Everton. But it hasn’t been an easy few days for Sterling who hogged the limelight after complaining of alleged racial abuse at Stamford Bridge.

Following his complaint, Chelsea looked into the matter and later suspended four supporters for this incident. But this racism issue barely had any effect on Sterling’s game as the 24 year old completed full ninety minutes against Hoffenheim and later played a pivotal role in City’s victory over the Merseysiders.

Guardiola said, “I see him so calm.

“My feeling is he has handled many situations in the last year. There are many rumours that people have been talking about, and not nice things about him or his family or, in this case, the colour of his skin.

“And that is why I admire him. I admire that it is not easy for him but he is calm, he is happy playing football and he is beloved.

“He is incredible for all the staff, locker room and his team-mates. It is good. Hopefully we can improve on that and move forward.”
