Reports revealed that Benjamin Mendy was out partying the night before Manchester City’s game against Fulham and yet Pep Guardiola claims to be relaxed over the situation.

The France international was left out of the Citizens squad during the 2-0 win over the Cottagers on Saturday evening.

When asked about the situation, Guardiola said, “They are old enough to know what they have to do, I’m not his father. I would prefer him to go home earlier but I don’t control the players in that situation.

“(I’m) not frustrated, I’m a relaxed guy. It might not look like it but I sleep quite well.”

Mendy’s career while has been appreciated by many City fans has been ravaged by injuries. The left-back tore one of his knee ligaments just months after making his way into the Etihad Stadium in 2017.

He has made just one appearance after going through meniscus surgery in November. Mendy might posess a lot of talent on the pitch but his discipline is certainly not one of his best traits.

The 24-year-old was caught arriving late for treatment back in September due to his prior engagement in a boxing match.

When asked if he is fit to appear in the upcoming matches, Guardiola simply replied, “Yes, he is fit!”
