Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola feels a victory over Manchester United on Sunday’s Manchester derby would be impossible to end the Red Devils title hopes.

It would be a daunting task for United to subdue their city rival at their fortress but given their current form, Jose Mourinho would be hoping for a positive result. United had the history of overturning their form in past and a victory over City would help them close the gap to six points.

Since their loss to West Ham United, United are currently on a five match unbeaten run and turned the tide by getting the better of Juventus in their last match.

Guardiola’s men cruised their way to the title last time but United were the better time when the two sides met in the Premier League last time. The Gaffer said, “Win or lose they are not out of the race no way. In November? It’s impossible.

“They’ve shown it, they were in a tough moment, they recovered well.

“It’s a big club, big club mentality, since we arrive we try to convince [the players] that club never give up.

“Of course games against contenders are special because if you win they don’t win but we are in November so maybe the game at Old Trafford [in March] will be more decisive.”
