Pep Guardiola has no intention to alter his playing style despite losing consecutive matches in the Premier League.

Manchester City’s poor run of form saw them losing three in the last four Premier League matches and they have slipped behind in the title race. Liverpool’s 5-1 rout of Arsenal means the Reds now have a strong lead of 10 points at the top and City must get the better of Southampton to close the increasing gap.

City’s fluent attacking style has helped them in scoring goals after goals but defensive vulnerabilities remain a problem for Guardiola. The Sky Blues successfully implemented this style last season as they broke the 100 points barrier but off late they seem to have lost the rhythm.

On being asked if he is planning to make some change to his style he answered, “That is not going to happen. It has not happened in the first years and it is not going to happen.
“Why should I change? Because I lost two games? No way. That is not going to happen.”

“Last season, I knew that when we were going to lose, we were going to doubt again that this is the right way

“It happened in Barcelona, where it was stable, or Bayern Munich, where we won a lot of titles but I failed because I did not win the Champions League.

“I know that’s how it works in that situation, but I’m not concerned.

“When it happens, I’m a little sad and depressed for five, 10, 15 minutes and after I charge the batteries and discover why. Why do we lose? The same way as when we win. The game is nice for that: Why? why?”
