Pep Guardiola is expected to have his say in Manchester City’s next shirt design.

The club recently inked a multimillion year deal with apparel giant Puma and the players will be seen in the new kits from next season. The new kit deal will rake in £65m per year, almost £10 m less than what Adidas is paying Manchester United currently.

This deal covers all City’s sister clubs including Girona, Melbourne City, Atletico Torque and Sichuan Junhiu. Puma already has a number of big clients with the likes of Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Ac Milan in their kitty and with City also joining the rank the German manufacturer could pose a serious threat to its rivals Nike and Adidas.

City chief executive Ferran Soriano said confirmed the development : “Pep and the coaches are interested in the technical aspects of the shirt and the training gear. They are very interested and their demands are very high.

“It’s in terms of weight and so on to manage the heat and the sweat – not so much the colours but the technical aspects!”

The  new line of range will be launched on July 1.
