Goalkeeper wants to stay in London

Chelsea star Petr Cech is set to inform the club that he wants to join local-rivals Arsenal this Summer.

The veteran goalkeeper is expected to leave Stamford Bridge in the next few months, ending his long-term association with The Blues after falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho.

Cech Dropping to Number-Two

Mourinho informed Cech at the beginning of the season that he would no longer be number-one at The Bridge as Thibaut Courtois took over after spending three years out on loan with Spanish side Atletico Madrid.

After returning from his loan, Courtois was made number-one by Mourinho and has stayed there ever since.

Cech had the opportunity to leave last Summer but he informed the club that he would stay and fight for his place. However, a year later, he is now ready to quit after failing to knock Courtois out of the first-team.

The Czech international has been linked with moves to Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and a couple of Serie A teams, but according to fresh reports, he has his heart set on a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Cech Wants Arsenal

According to reports, Cech will ask Chelsea if he can move to Arsenal due to his family being settled in London after spending so many years there.

The potential issue for Cech is that Mourinho doesn’t want to see the star going to a direct rival as he still considers him one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

The Gunners are in the market for a new shot-stopper after David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny have both failed to impress throughout the 2014/2015 season.

Szczesny and Ospina Not Enough

Szczesny was dropped after errors against Southampton earlier in the year and made things worse for himself by getting caught smoking in the showers.

Ospina was then handed the number-one spot until the end of the season, but he has failed to convince Arsene Wenger that he’s long-term number-one material.

Potential Fee

Arsenal are prepared to pay ÂŁ10million for the goalkeeper, but need to persuade Mourinho to do the deal first.
