Mahrez and Alli take the honours

This year’s PFA Player and Young Player of the year awards have gone to Riyad Mahrez and Deli Alli respectively.

Mahrez has had an incredible debut season at Premier League leaders Leicester, scoring 17 goals in 34 games, and grabbing 10 assists too. His partnership with England’s Jamie Vardy has been almost unstoppable, as the Foxes push towards the title. They sit 8 points clear with 3 games to go, needing 5 points to claim a fairytale victory.

Tottenham Hotspur are the ones right behind Leicester, and their midfielder Deli Alli has had an outstanding breakthrough season for Spurs, and has taken the young player of the year tonight. The 20 year old has grabbed 10 goals and 9 assists in 32 games this season. After impressing Roy Hodgson and getting his first England cap in October, he now looks set to travel to Euro 2016 this summer with England, as one of the national side’s most exciting prospects.

All-in-all, no matter who wins the league this season, these two winners have had exceptional campaigns, and will be looking to repeat this kind of form on the European stage next season in the Champions League.
