6 players have been nominated for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year. They are: Virgil van Dijk, Raheem Sterling, Eden Hazard, Sergio Aguero, Sadio Mane and Bernardo Silva.

Van Dijk and Raheem Sterling have both been top contenders to win the award for a while. Many have called for one of these two to win the award. Van Dijk has been Liverpool’s defensive mainstay and has been terrific all throughout the season. The Dutchman has netted 5 goals and has provided 4 assists this season.

Raheem Sterling is currently in the form of his life and has been in sensational form for Manchester City this season. Sterling has scored 23 goals and has provided 16 assists this season so far. In the Premier League, the winger has scored 17 goals and has provided 11 assists. While van Dijk voted for Raheem Sterling, Sterling voted for his England teammate Harry Kane who isn’t even nominated.

Sergio Aguero is also a top contender to bag the award. He is currently the joint top scorer in the Premier League table with 19 goals. All in all, Aguero has scored 30 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions this season. The other joint top scorer of the Premier League Mo Salah is not among the nominees. Salah won this award last season for scoring a record 32 Premier League goals in just 36 matches. However, Salah hasn’t been as prolific this season as he was last season.

Instead, Salah’s Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane is among the nominees. Mane has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 22 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions. He has 18 Premier League goals to his name.

Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is currently in the peak of his form and has scored 19 goals this season. The third Manchester City player who is among the nominees is Bernardo Silva. Silva has scored and assisted 12 times this season so far.

All 6 nominees have produced fine performances this season but it seems like it will come down to Virgil van Dijk and Raheem Sterling to compete for the award.
