Englishman to commit to Manchester United

Manchester United defender Phil Jones is set to sign a new deal at Old Trafford, ending all uncertainty surrounding his future.

According to reports, the centre-back will put pen to paper on a new deal later this week, confirming his long-term future is in Manchester with The Red Devils.

Centre-back Rumours

Jones‘ future was seemingly uncertain, with transfer speculation linking Louis Van Gaal with three centre-backs, including Mats Hummels and Sergio Ramos from Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid respectively.

With the European Championships coming next summer, Jones is desperate to play first-team football in order to make a claim for a starting spot in Roy Hodgson‘s back-line, but with star names linked with Old Trafford, his position is in jeopardy.

However, the former-Blackburn Rovers centre-back is adamant to remain at United and prove that he can make the cut at a big club, and by doing so, he will sign a new deal later this week.

New Deal for Jones

According to reports, the 23-year-old will sign a new deal worth around ÂŁ80k-a-week, which is a similar deal his partner Chris Smalling is on.

Jones’ current contract expires next summer, but the club and the player want to ensure his future is secured.

Since moving to United back in 2011, Jones has made 94 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring two goals.
