Tottenham scraped past Burnley with a 1-0 showing last night, letting Mauricio Pochettino record his 100th Premier League win for the club.

It looked like Spurs were going to end the night on a goalless draw but Christian Eriksen struck in the 91st minute to grab his team the victory. Speaking to the press after the match, the Argentine boss said, “Today I congratulate my players’ effort and the 50,000 fans. It was a late victory but so important for us. The character to always push to the end shows great belief and faith in the way we play. That pleases me the most.”

Pochettino recorded his century of wins for the North London outfit in 169 matches, which is 10 lesser than Arsene Wenger’s record with Arsenal. If we were to Include his time at Southampton, his 100th win in the competition came in March, when Spurs beat Huddersfield Town by 2 goals to nil. Jose Mourinho still holds the record at only 142 games, followed up by Sir Alex Ferguson’s 162 games. Behind Wenger is Rafael Benitez (181) and Claudio Ranieri (187).

Pochettino have taken Tottenham through the paces in order to turn them into a title contending side. Currently, the team sits in the third spot of the points table, 5 points behind leaders Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola is currently on track to break the record with Manchester City, having already collected 69 wins in 93 Premier League matches. The Citizens are stills dominant in the standings and are strong contenders for their second consecutive title clinch.
