Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that the title race is over for Tottenham Hotspur.

His words come after Spurs lost their last match against Burnley by 2-1.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that the race for supremacy in the Premier League is over for Spurs for this season. The north London club endured a shock loss at the hands of Burnley in their last outing in the Premier League by 2-1. Harry Kane scored on his return to the pitch but the Spurs defence could not hold the fort for their side.

Speaking to the media after the match against the Clarets, the Argentine gaffer said, “We are very disappointed because there are 11 games, the gap can be bigger.”

He added, “Of course, there are a lot of games to play but today, in my mind, we had to win the three points to put pressure on them. We didn’t for different reasons, our mistakes and only because of us. We cannot blame anyone, only ourselves because we were not able to win.”

Speaking about his angry rant at referee Mike Dean after the match, the Argentine gaffer said, “We made mistakes on the pitch and I made a mistake after, I needed to go straight away to my dressing room and wait there, drink some water and be relaxed. But what happened, happened. I will accept everything that happens. Hopefully it is not going further.”
