Mauricio Pochettino has dismissed questions about Fernando Llorente’s future at Tottenham amid transfer links to Chelsea. The Blues were thought to have made an enquiry for the Spurs striker.
He said: “I did not hear anything. No one said nothing to me about it. That is a rumour from the media.” Pochettino was speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Southampton on Sunday.
Chelsea tried to sign Llorente when he was still a Swansea player. But the Spaniard decided to join Tottenham last summer. Llorente has found life at Tottenham difficult and has played second fiddle to Harry Kane.
Kane has continued his remarkable scoring streak for Spurs and Llorente is currently behind Son Heung-min, who is also in superb form.
Conte is searching for a backup striker to Alvaro Morata and Llorente could find life equally difficult at Stamford Bridge as at Tottenham.
