Arsene Wenger would be in a good mood after the £42.5 million signing of Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil but today has been dealt a real blow that will no doubt dampen his spirits.

Podolski was set to face eight weeks ont he sidelines but after further medicals with the German national team he is set to face even longer on the sidelines. Dr Hans-Muller Wohlfahrt delivered the unwanted news, he was also the Dr who conducted Ozil’s medical.

Muller-Wohlfahrt looked at Podolski’s injury and found that the 28 year old had a hamstring tear in his left leg which will keep the German out until December. Podolski told German daily newspaper Bild: ‘Unfortunately I’ll be out a long while, around three months.’

Podolski picked up the injury in Arsena;#s Champions League win against Fenerbache last week, with Podolski out Wenger only has Oliver Giroud and The Walcott as first choice attacking players with Sanogo and Bendnter as back up.
