Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has confirmed via his Twitter account that the injury he picked up against Manchester United on Sunday isn’t as bad as the physios first thought.

The right-back was substituted during The Reds’ 1-0 victory over their fierce-rivals and was also seen leaving Anfield on crutches after the game, which lead people to believing he could be out for a couple of months.

However, after having further scans on his ankle, the England international took to Twitter to let the fans know the positive news.

He tweeted: ‘Injury doesn’t seem as bad as first thought, hopefully be back sooner than originally expected. Thank you everyone for the ‘Get well’ messages.’

Johnson was expected to be back in December, but it now looks like he could be back a lot sooner.
